BOOK SIGNING FOR THE KNIGHT OF REDMOND

The Knight of Redmond has just been been put on the market. In fact, it is so new that I haven't even received my own copy from the publisher yet. It's coming though. It's in the mail and I should be getting it today or tomorrow!!! Woohoo!!!

Believe it or not, I've already signed a few copies. Some of my friends and family ran out and bought the first copies before the store had even unpacked them from the shipping box, so there are some out there.Still, as of this morning, Deseret Book doesn't have it up on their site yet; and Amazon, although they have the paperback listed, they don't have the e-book version up yet.

So, yes, it it's not being sold everywhere....yet...But I'm sill having a book signing,
and I WILL HAVE COPIES FOR SALE!!!!
(and at a discounted price!!!)

So here are the details:

The book signing will be this Friday, May 10th, 2013
at the Provo Marriott Hotel (101 West 100 North, Provo)
5:00 pm - 7:00pm

This event is in conjunction with the LDStorymakers Conference so there will be dozens of authors there with their books at a discounted price! This is a great opportunity to meet some of your favorite writers! There will be a bookstore set up in the Cedar room and the book signing will be across the hall in the Aspen room. I will have both MARK OF ROYALTY and THE KNIGHT OF REDMOND for sale there!!!

If you go in through the main entrance, just head down the hall on the left and you'll find us.

THE KNIGHT OF REDMOND--Cover Reveal

I'm so excited!

Here it is--the cover reveal for THE KNIGHT OF REDMOND!

Woohooo!!!!
Isn't it a great cover? I love it! It depicts the two main characters so well--Lily wearing her green cloak that she is never without; and Wren, the Redmond knight (My daughter says he's "hot"), the man with a tormented past yet so strong-willed, idealistic, and awesome with a sword! I'm so excited for when I actually have the book in hand!

From the back cover:

The Knight of Redmond

Lily is desperate to experience the world beyond her small village. A summer trip through the kingdom in the company of her uncle promises just the sort of escape she yearns for until, scarcely a day into their journey, the threat of battle on the road ahead ends her exploration before it’s even begun. But the path home proves more perilous than she could have imagined. After a terrifying encounter with her uncle’s merciless adversary, Lily must flee for her life. Separated from her uncle, she has no choice but to enter enemy territory alone. It appears that adventure is on the horizon after all . . .

Thrust into an unfamiliar world, Lily is forced to align herself with Wren, a young knight from a rival land. With war looming, they must set aside generations of contention to save the ruling family—as well as Lily’s own people—from annihilation. But when a shocking secret is revealed, her allegiance to her clan—and her growing feelings for Wren—are called into question. Now, Lily must make a choice: continue on the conflict-ridden path of her kin, or break down the barriers in her land . . . and her heart.

The Wizard's Workshop . . . Ghost Detecting Potion

My kids were having fun with the potions book today. We set up a wizard's classroom in the kitchen and they came up with this little demonstration. This is the Ghost Detecting Potion. Watch for the color change to happen in the bottle. The liquid turns blue, but it only lasts a few seconds before turning back to the light gray color.

Yikes! a ghost is in the room!

Ingredients: Water, Flitterbloom Tablet, Ground Snake Fang, and Shifting Mists.

Behind The Magic
For all you science geeks out there, this is a classic blue-bottle reaction. Water, glucose, sodium hydroxide (or lye), and methylene blue. The ingredients are not that hard to find. If you live in the city, you can buy them all locally and they won't cost you an arm and a leg.

The best part--my kids (even my 16 year old son) can spend hours playing and experimenting. This is so awesome!!! I can picture the time when my little girl gets into a high school chemistry class and recognizes some of the experiments she did as a child. I can just see the teacher preforming a blue-bottle reaction for the class and my daughter bursting out laughing because a ghost is in the room.

The book I'm working on has a collection of science experiments--wait--not science experiments. Potions. Lots and lots of potions. Potions for attracting zombies, and potions that will help you defeat werewolves and sparkling vampires, and potions to help you catch night fairies, and there is even a . . . . Love Potion! Oo la' la' . Each potion will have step by step instructions, along with where to get all the ingredients.

Well I'm off to the potions class room to cook up a little magic. Happy potion-making to all you wizards out there.
