Bonds of Loyalty
By Jennifer K. Clark, Stephonie K. Williams
YA/Adult Historical Romance
August 2014 by Covenant Communications, Inc.

"It shall be the son, the firstborn in the new monarchy, who shall quiet the fears and unite the nation again."

The infamous prophecy declaring that the firstborn would be a boy is the last thing Sarah wants to deal with. As if being newly engaged isn’t difficult enough, she’s still coming to terms with the fact that the first eighteen years of her life were a farce. The prophecy—the reason she had been secreted away from her family and her royal heritage to begin with—wasn’t supposed to disrupt her life any more than it previously had. But when unexpected events force her to leave her fiancĂ©, Prince Alexander, Sarah must return to her home country of Kyrnidan to face her destiny.

Reunited with her royal family, Sarah is thrust into the political turmoil that surrounds her ancestral home. To make things worse, her arrival has upturned the long-held prophecy.

As the voices of dissension mount against her, Sarah turns to her bodyguard, Luther, for protection. But Luther’s protection comes with a price. Propelled into a plot that threatens her life and the welfare of the entire kingdom, Sarah must determine where her love and loyalty truly lie. Torn between two men, she will now have to face her fears and undertake a journey of self-discovery that will change the fate of a nation….

Mark of Royalty is the book previous to this. Although Bonds of Loyalty is the continuation of Sarah's story it is a stand alone book.

by Jennifer K. Clark, Stephonie K. Williams
YA/Adult Historical Romance
January 1st 2011 by Covenant Communications

At a time when royal infants are marked at birth, a royal advisor makes a terrible misstep — and an infant princess must be secreted away to save her life. Named Sarah by Miranda, the woman who agrees to raise the child as her own, the girl is unaware of her royal heritage — even though Miranda has done all she can to pair Sarah with the king's nephew, Lord Chad. But unexpected events prevent the expected betrothal.

Determined to fulfill her devoted mother's wishes, Sarah reserves her heart for Chad despite her growing affections for another man. But as plots against the crown unfold, someone accidentally discovers Sarah's mark of royalty — setting the stage for discoveries that will shake the kingdom to its core.

You can find a music video for Mark of Royalty here and a book trailer here.

Jennifer K. Clark and Stephonie K. Williams are sisters by chance but became friends by choice when a year of rooming together at college taught them how to get along. Now “play”-at-home moms, separated and living in different parts of the country, they stay in touch and support each other in their individual projects.

Jennifer K. Clark lives in the small rural town of Wellington Utah, as much as her husband wishes it was Wellington New Zealand. After years of entertaining her three children with infamous made-up stories, she decided to put her imagination to good use and became an author. She likes to add a touch of romance to her novels along with a healthy dose of adventure. Fueled by Lindt Chocolate Truffles and Sour Patch Kids, she now spends a copious amount of time with the characters in her head. In her spare time she likes to create science experiments with the ingredients in her potions cupboard, debate which Doctor is her favorite (currently the 10th…or maybe the 11th), and—when she has time—watches the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice.

Stephonie K. Williams makes her home in a quaint farming town in eastern Iowa with her husband, three cats, and a budding ninja. Two of her favorite things in Iowa are the fireflies (aka lightning bugs) and cows, especially the calves. Despite having lived there for 15 years she still misses the majesty and tranquility of the mountains of Utah where she grew up. She has a vast collection of fortune cookie fortunes because she has yet to determine if it is unlucky to throw them away. She also loves to quill, the art of rolled paper, not to be confused with quilting.

Stephonie is passionate about education and enjoys visiting schools to teach classes on creative writing. She has written poetry, short stories, and dissertations, although Mark of Royalty was the first of her work that she was brave enough to submit for publication.

Eating my Turkey a month early---NaNoWriMo

I know most of you out there are gearing up for the grueling month of November. And why is November a month to be feared? One word (or a conglomerate of words shoved together into something that makes no sense to most people, but is really fun to say)...
NaNoWriMo

In other words, National Novel Writing Month.
Yes, November is the month were most authors transform into anti-social, caffeine drinking, insomniacs. It's amazing how many authors volunteer willingly to take on this hermit-like state.
I being one of them, but I was so excited to get started that I just couldn't wait. So my turkey eating November has been moved up a month. Stephonie (sister and coauthor) and I have already done the T-minus countdown and we are ready to write.........wait for it.......drum roll...
The Sequel to Mark of Royalty!!!
So why wait till November. We are doing it a month early--our own personal version of NaNoWriMo!
50,000 words a month. (Probably more for our sequel as Mark of Royalty topped 80,000)
So.....Book In A Month?  We can do it!!!
Wish us luck!

Everyone Loves Horses

(Mark of Royalty Music Video / Book Trailer)

Fact: I am an avid horse lover.

The horse is my favorite animal in the whole world. In fact, if there were ever committees in the pre-existance assigned to help create some form of life, I'm sure I would have been assigned to the horse creation committee. I grew up on books like Black Beauty, Misty of Chinocoteague, and King of the Wind. Now my love of horses comes through in my own writing.

Some of my favorite scenes that I wrote in Mark of Royalty were the ones featuring horses. In Mark of Royalty, the main character, Sarah, has a deep love and appreciation for the equine breed. Despite her step father's animosity towards the animals, Sarah rescues a little lame pony and brings him home. What I love about her interaction with the pony (affectionately named Pooka), is the fact that, although he is the lame one, he becomes very therapeutic for her.

Other favorite scenes in Mark of Royalty include the dashing Alex and his Friesian horse. If any of you have read the book, you know why the Friesian is the perfect horse for Alex. The Friesian is one of my all time favorite breed of horse and one that I would dearly love to own myself. They have a distinct majestic look about them. They are recognized for their silky black coat, their extremely long, wavy mane and tail, and "feathers" on their lower legs. To me, they always appear to be leaning into the wind, and it's an absolute thrill to see them in action. Their large muscular bodies have a sense of dignity and grace which adds to their commanding presence.  You'll see them in movies like The Mask of Zorro, Eragon, and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Friesians have a very distinct look about them and we were very blessed to find a pure bread to feature in our Book trailer and Music video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSL-Opx9QME
This is a picture of Luke (the horse) next to Warren Workman(video director), and Christie Erickon (horsetrainer/stunt double.)

Want to win your own copy of Mark of Royalty along with a DVD of the Music Video? We are helping Tristi Pinkston celebrate the release of her new book, Hang 'Em High--another book with horses! We are sponsoring a book giveaway in her contest so check out her blog http://tristipinkston.blogspot.com/ and come back here on Aug. 4th to enter the drawing.

Courage Reins

This is why we are doing the Courage Reins program:

Mitchell is 13 years old and was born with spina bifida. He has had 14 surgeries so far in his life and has been quite the trooper. The last surgery, which was a year ago in December, was quite an extensive orthopaedic surgery on his hip to shore up his hip socket and fit the ball more securely into the socket in order to prevent future pain. This has left him using a crutch. Before this time, he was able to get around without a crutch, using leg braces. I think this equestrian experience would be good for Mitchell for a couple of reasons. First of all, his core physical strength could increase, which would help him overall. In increasing his physical strength, his self-esteem would improve. He is very quiet and shy and I think that working with horses would give him a sense of accomplishment.

Mark of Royalty lyrics

How awesome is this.... This song was written specifically for our book, Mark of Royalty.
Kelsey did such a fantastic job and it totally fits with the story in the book.

So with no further adiue, here are the long awaited lyrics to the song Mark of Royalty
Written by and performed by Kelsey Wheadon

I feel so lost in my own world
Like there’s so much more to be
And here I try to regain my strength
To obtain that side of me

I follow in hopes of some sort of clue
To the cause of why I’m here
As all I’ve ever known is wrong
My path is so unclear

So I’ll run against the soaring wind
And I’ll reach just to touch your hand
I’ll follow you on this journey
Just to find who I am

I surrender, I need to know
Please, just let it show
I thought I knew
And now so unsure
I don’t know where to go

So I’ll run against the soaring wind
And I’ll reach just to touch your hand
I’ll follow you on this journey
Just to find who I am

A secret has been kept from me
This mark claims my identity

So I’ll run against the soaring wind
And I’ll reach just to touch your hand
I’ll follow you on this journey
Just to find who I am

I think you know
I’ll trust in you
Take my hand, show me

I’ll find who I am
Yes, I’ll find who I am
Find who I am
Okay, so now I know your dying to hear the song set to music and see the music video.
We will be posting it .........DRUM ROLL.......

Mark of Royalty Premiere

The Mark of Royalty premiere was a success!
The picture above is only half of the room, but you can tell that we had a crowd there. 77 people to be exact! We even had to pull out more chairs!

For those of you who don't know what this is all about...My sister Stephonie and I made a music video to help promote our book, Mark of Royalty. The premiere party features the first public viewing of the music video.

What did we do?.....Lots!
*My editor, Eliza Nevin, and 2 of her friends sang to us, ended with a beautiful Irish folksong.
*We gave away 20 prizes! Some included hand made journals, Kelsey Weadon CD's, and yummy treats!
*Those who came got to meet the song artist, Kelsey Weadon, and some of the other actors and were able to look through photos taken the day of the shoot.
*And of course... we viewed some videos. 1-a short video on Friesian Stallion that we used. 2-The book trailer. 3-The fabulous, oh soooo amazing Mark of Royalty Music Video. 4-the funny blooper reel.

It was so fun and I even received 2 invitations to speak at schools about the book and to show the videos.
I was really impressed by several people who talked to me afterward about their own writing experiences and book ideas.

It was GREAT! Next big party on the list.... The Mark of Royalty Book Launch (February)

We will be posting the music video soon, so keep your eye out for it!

Her are just a few pictures from the Premiere.

Mark of Royalty-- The super secret project

Now to explain to the throngs of people who have been waiting with baited breath to hear about the thrilling escapade I've been involved in.... alright, I know I only have 1 follower at this time, but give me time, I'm just building steam.
Anyway...The Super Secret Project; the event that pushed me to start a blog---I have a book that is being published...Tadaaaa! Pause for applause here. Yes, it's my book, Mark of Royalty, which my sister, Stephonie Williams, co-authored with me, and it's being published by Covenant Communications. The secret project that my sister and I have been working on is a Book Trailer and Music Video which we will use to help promote Mark of Royalty. Of course book trailers aren't that uncommon so Stephonie came up with the idea to do a music video too. (Great Idea!) This project has been in the making for months. First we were blessed to get the oh so talented Kelsey Wheadon who wrote and composed a song based on Mark of Royalty. From there we scouted locations, hired Warren Workman as videographer/director, then scouted for actors. The uber-talented Jaclyn Hales who just got done filming Unicorn City plays our lead character, Sarah Benavente.  Jon Florence (hot, hot, hot) took the lead male role of Alex. And the crowd goes wild....Yes we had a star studded cast.
Amongst our other hard workers, Melaine Mallory headed wardrobe, and Paul Mitchel beauty school handled hair and makeup. Scott Warren was out super camera op, and Eddie Sa'enz and Dora Workman did great photography.
Of course we had a whole work crew there that covered everything from transportation to grips and crafties and everything in-between. So thank you Lily (our super go-to girl), Valynda, Don, Linda, Julie, Ashley, Pete, Paul, Jared, Michael, Sarah, Brittany, Nicole, Rachael, Vicky, Christie, TJ, Rebecca, our many extras, and the guys who showed up with ladders, silks, and bounce boards.
So check out some of the pictures.
Our magnificent Fresian Stallion, Luke.

Our beautiful song artist, Kelsey Wheadon.
